Class Descriptions

Vinyasa Flow (Infrared Heated or Warmed or Non-Heated)

Vinyasa Flow is a yoga movement class where poses are sequenced together along with breath awareness cues in what sometimes feels like an elaborate dance, or sometimes a simple prayer. This style of asana (postural) practice is more vigorous and offers more arm/wrist weight-bearing (think downward-facing dog and plank poses) than classes like our Slow Flow, Hatha and Gentle classes, so we recommend playing in those class formats first. Bear in mind, more is more unless...it’s not :) We encourage you to take what you need from these classes and leave the rest! In our “Infrared Heated” classes, the room is heated to 90-ish degrees and “Infrared Warmed” classes are warmed to about 80-85 degrees. The therapeutic warmth from the heaters feels like a nice little hug to your muscles and joints…and the cold lavender towel at the end of class feels like a dream come true!

Slow Flow (Infrared Heated or Non-Heated)

Slow Flow is an approachable, mixed-levels yoga movement class where postures are linked together at a moderate pace. In Flow classes, pose actions and movements are cued along with the breath…”inhale, stretch your arms up, exhale, fold over your legs”. Each teacher has their own style, certainly, but you can expect a slower paced class with a bit less arm/wrist weight bearing work than you would likely see in a Vinyasa Flow practice. Our Slow Flow + Sound classes end with a mini sound bath filled with the healing sounds of singing bowls. In our Infrared Heated Slow Flow class the room is heated to 85-90 degrees. The therapeutic warmth from the heaters feels like a nice little hug to your muscles and joints…and the cold lavender towel during Savasana is the best thing ever!

Hatha

Hatha is a playful, mixed-levels movement class inspired by the alignment work in the Iyengar and Anusara yoga systems as well as new, functional movement modalities.

This class is not flow-based, though it is good training ground for vinyasa practitioners. We spend time workshopping alignment for postures & exploring variations for all bodies with a focus on curiosity, agency, & empowerment. Being truly present--in the body, the mind, the emotions, and the spirit--can begin with understanding the body in relationship to the postures (asanas).

Gentle

Gentle is...like a hug from the Universe. In this spacious, foundational yoga movement class, we play with classical yoga shapes and funky, functional movement patterns with low arm/wrist weight-bearing work. This class is approachable, playful, and meditative and offers lots of exploration with props and variations for all bodies. All yoga practices should help us to meet ourselves where we are; Gentle is a great place to learn how.

Infrared Heated Vinyasa Sculpt

Vinyasa Sculpt incorporates creative strength-building elements into a Vinyasa Flow yoga practice, with the addition of hand weights. This class is designed to engage our major muscle groups and challenge some of those little ones you didn't know were there! A powerful movement ritual, Vinyasa Sculpt provides a mindful & challenging change of pace for regular gym-goers…with the addition of therapeutic, infrared warmth. This class is higher-impact (read: more weight-bearing on arms/wrists than our Slow Flow, Hatha and Gentle classes) and incorporates cardio bursts and repetitions of movement within the yoga poses--picture bicep curls in Warrior 1 or tricep work in Tree Pose. Don’t worry--you’ll still get your Savasana…with the added treat of a cold lavender towel! Our Infrared Heaters are set to about 90-95 degrees for our Heated Sculpt classes.

Kundalini

Kundalini is a dynamic form of yoga, known as the Yoga of Awareness. This style of yoga combines breath work, movement, meditation and mantra to energize the body and bring clarity to the mind. Kundalini creates a body, mind and spirit that is full of vitality and increased consciousness.

Meditation

Wake up with mindfulness, to connect to yourself, supported by community, as you begin your day. Meditation is a time to be gently guided into an inner inquiry, so that you experience your “wholeness of being” before you head “out” into the world. When you take time for this inner connection, you can bring more compassion, patience, kindness and courage into all of your interactions--with yourself and with others.

Carve out 30 quiet minutes for yourself, raise the vibration together with other mindful people, and see how it impacts your day.

“Silence is not the absence of something but the presence of everything”. --Gordon Hempton

Restorative + Sound

Enjoy this renewing, yet relaxing yoga practice where our teachers will guide you through a handful of delicious, supported postures. In addition to restorative poses, you may also explore breathing techniques (pranayama), singing or chanting mantra, or meditation…all of which are designed for the single purpose of bringing stillness to the mind and remembering the deep well of peace in our hearts. Little movement is required, but there is much to be gained from an hour devoted to relaxation. Your practice will end with a mini sound bath filled with sounds of singing bowls, chimes and a gong.

Yin

In our Yin Yoga classes, you'll notice the effect of long-held Yin postures to open up the deeper fascia of the body which will help to support ligaments, tendons and the skeletal system. Our teachers often offer the healing sound of the gong, singing bowls, or other instruments during the yin postures to help facilitate the soothing of the central nervous system and to promote energy flow along your body's meridians.

Move + Meditate + Sound

Move + Mediate + Sound is a signature practice developed by our Teacher, Xenia Hennington. This class is a blend of Hatha and Vinyasa Flow movement suitable for all levels of practitioners, with a focus on energy and meditation. Pranayama, or breath control, will be used to prepare and bolster your physical body for the movement portion of the practice, enhancing the meditation experience towards the end. Students will also enjoy a mini sound bath during Savasana as Xenia plays the gong to promote deep relaxation. The sounds of a gong are said to aid the natural healing processes of body, mind, and spirit, bringing the listener closer towards oneness. Move + Meditate + Sound is a beautiful experience. Give it a try, you'll love it!

Infrared Heated HIIT Yoga Flow

Our unique, cardio-filled, yoga-inspired HIIT class is a full body workout that’s energizing, yet mindful. HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training…but in this class, you get top choose your own intensity! All movements have options for those who are wanting a more chill practice to those who are ready to AMP IT UP! You can expect 60-second intervals of yoga-inspired repetitive movement, with the addition of weights and cardio bursts. The intervals will be offset by 30 second "breath breaks" and Vinyasas. Be prepared to move & sweat while strengthening your ENTIRE body. Our Infrared Heaters are set to 90 degrees for this class and a cold lavender towel is ALWAYS coming at the end of class!

Empower

EMPOWER is a music-driven, creative movement class inspired by the work of superstar trainers Taryn Toomey and Tracy Anderson...and our very own Amy Hogan & Laura Teal! Each class starts off with grounding, followed by a full-body warm-up, arm work, low-to-high impact cardio bursts, creative mat movement and ab work! Unique, repetitive movements activate the smaller muscles in the body and keep them challenged throughout the entire class! "Bus stops" and clear progressions will be offered for ALL movements; and we will always reinforce and EMPOWER agency of choice in what you do with your body. Light hand weights and ankle weights are provided, but optional. Give it a try...you'll love it!

Infrared Warmed Slow Sculpt

Our Warmed Slow Sculpt class is a place where Slow Flow and Vinyasa Sculpt meet in the middle! This unique class incorporates methodical and creative strength-building elements woven into a Slow Flow yoga practice focused on strengthening and toning the entire body. You can expect to flow mindfully through standing sequences that incorporate hand and ankle weights - think Warrior 1 with bicep curls or Warrior 2 with shoulder presses - while keeping you awareness on your breath and your body. Our infrared heating panels will be set to about 80-85 degrees, so you'll receive the therapeutic benefits of the infrared heat…which feels like a warm hug to your muscles and joints! Each Slow Sculpt class ends in a relaxing Savasana with the added treat of cold lavender towels! Give it a try...this class will soon become one of your favorites!
