Grief is a universal experience, deeply personal, and often overwhelming.
It is a shared human experience that will be endured by anyone who has lived long enough and who has loved profoundly. The emotional, physical, and cognitive toll of early grief, defined as the first two years (or five years for the loss of a child), can be debilitating. Moreover, many individuals will carry the weight of grief and loss far longer. The winter season can amplify feelings of loss with shorter days and constant reminders of absent loved ones.
Yoga offers a holistic approach to navigating grief. Through breathwork, somatic expression, deep relaxation, and mindful presence, yoga supports emotional and physical healing. It provides a nurturing space for individuals to process their grief, while the shared experience within a community can foster growth and self-care.
Yoga for Grief and Loss is a six-week workshop series designed to support participants through this challenging time. Each 90-minute session will include:
Asana (Physical Practice): Gentle movement to release stored tension.
Pranayama (Breathwork): Techniques to calm the nervous system.
Dhyana (Meditation): Guided meditations to promote inner peace.
Contemplative Practice: Journaling and reflective exercises to explore emotions in a safe space.
Yoga for Grief and Loss will be led by Lulu Lopez Goodman, M.S., a highly experienced Yoga Alliance RYT-500 teacher, certified in Grief Yoga® and is a Compassionate Bereavement Care - Yoga Certified Provider. As a bereaved mother herself, Lulu brings both professional expertise and personal compassion to her teaching.
