APRIL 6th: Yoga Nidra with Lisa

Now that we are well into 2025, the newness of the year is fading away.  So here come the realities of our overly-busy lives in turbulent times.  In the midst of a too-full to-do list, family responsibilities, job pressures and a constant barrage of troubling content, you may find it hard to relax and enjoy your life.  Worries and stress may steal the joy from the present moment.  Sleep may feel elusive.  Tempers get short, and relationships get challenged.  

Ugh, that sounds terrible!  BUT…there is another way.  There is a practice that anyone can do, anywhere, for any amount of time, that has been shown to help relieve stress and anxiety, and bring us back in balance.  This practice is iRest, and Lisa Feder, a Certified iRest teacher, would like to share it with you so that you will have the practice as a resource in your “living well” tool kit.

iRest is a meditation practice based on the ancient tradition of Yoga Nidra and adapted to suit the conditions of modern life. When practiced regularly - little and often - iRest enables you to meet each moment of your life with unshakable peace and wellbeing, no matter how challenging or difficult your situation.  iRest has been shown to be effective in scientific trials for conditions including chronic pain, sleep problems, depression and anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). 

Anyone can participate in this practice! It is typically done in stillness, but we will practice it lying down, sitting up, and even walking around.  We’ll begin our session with a few Yin stretches, so we will be ready for the quiet inquiry of the practice. You will leave with an understanding of this practice, and how to make it your own, so that whether you have a minute or an hour to practice, you can use iRest to bring you to your natural state of wholeness and peace.
